Alexander McQueen did it this season. Roberto Cavalli did, too. So why not Canadian designer Treana Peake for her label Obakki?

We’re talking about including women’s wear in a men’s show, which is exactly what Peake did today at Obakki’s spring men’s wear presentation at Pier 92, as part of ENK’s The Collective trade show. “Our story has always been about a man and a woman,” explains Peake. “It’s about the two of them on an adventure.” For spring, the tale takes them to Shelter Island, where they’ve inherited “a dilapidated house.” In sartorial terms, this translates to an easy, breezy lineup of clean classics offset by a worn-in rustic sensibility, as seen in rumpled jackets and tops and sporty duster coats trailing languidly in the back. The overall vibe, meanwhile, reads airy and light, both in palette — whites and sky grays — and feel. Perfect case in point: Peake’s chicly sheer plaid blouse paired with a silk circle skirt.
