Made from upcycled horn, this set includes everything you need to serve your favourite cheeses and spreads.

 Story

Featuring a small spade knife, narrow plane knife, flat chisel and stout serving fork, this set is as functional as it is unique. Cow horn is a byproduct of the food industry, and it usually ends up in the trash––but our artisan partners in Mexico are repurposing and upcycling the material to create beautiful items for the home.

Made by talented artisans from Chilapa de Álvarez in the state of Guererro, Mexico, makers in this area have been using the same techniques for centuries. These talented craftspeople have joined together to create a co-op with a unifying core mission – the preservation of culture and the economic reactivation of the artisan sector in the region.

Taller Maya

Taller Maya is a collective brand of Mexican design - formed to keep Mayan culture alive and today,  42 artisans collaborate with Taller Maya in 32 communities in the Yucatan Peninsula.  These artisans are a key element in the conservation of invaluable Mayan ancestral knowledge. Native materials and ancestral techniques have been passed on to new generations who will keep these skills alive while updating them to integrate with the modern lifestyle. 

The wisdom of Mayan culture, linked with contemporary design has caught the attention of responsible consumers. And these consumers overwhelmingly appreciate handmade pieces with great background stories like those of the Taller Maya artisans.
