Operating a third-generation family business, Tokyo Kodo combines traditional Japanese and Western fragrance techniques to produce alluring incense aromas. They look at their craft as an invisible art to heighten awareness through scent. All their incense is hand-made at their atelier in Gunma prefecture, north of Tokyo.
When the Chinese brought the first incense to Japan in the 7th century, along with Buddhism, it was used for medicinal or ceremonial purposes. Today, incense is a staple in the modern home as a de-stressor and a tool to help us unwind.
Tokyo Kodo’s Seasonal Collection is presented in elegant glass test tubes with cork stoppers to preserve the fresh scents. Using proven Japanese techniques combined with French fragrance expertise and all natural ingredients, Tokyo Kodo produces aromas that encourage us to stop … and smell the incense.
