This artisan coffee is grown by smallholder farmers in the highland villages of Mount Elgon where communities have been harvesting coffee from old-growth trees for generations. Together with Bushbuck’s Coffee, Obakki is committed to improving the livelihoods of the communities by leaving the entire value chain (including the roasting) in the country where it originates. We strongly believe that keeping all steps of production in the same location as the growers has the most impact.
As members of Slow Food Presidia, our farmers are dedicated to protecting unique ecosystems, preserving artisanal coffee values, and protecting native animal and plant species. We love that. Almost as much as we love this coffee.
