Meet the Artisan

Japan
Tokyo Kodo
The Chinese brought the first incense to Japan in the 7th century, along with Buddhism, to use for medicinal or ceremonial purposes. Today, incense is a staple in the modern home as a tool to help us unwind.
A third-generation family business, Tokyo Kodo combines Japanese and Western fragrance techniques to produce alluring incense aromas. Their incense is hand-made at their atelier north of Tokyo and presented in elegant glass test tubes with cork stoppers to preserve the scents. Using proven Japanese techniques combined with French fragrance expertise and all-natural ingredients, Tokyo Kodo produces aromas that encourage us to stop … and smell the incense.
