MBABANE MAKERS COLLECTIVE
Mbabane Makers collective is a women-led artisan workshop based in Mbabane, Eswatini, transforming waste paper into beautifully crafted home objects. Founded in 2010 to create sustainable employment, the collective uses 100% recycled paper sourced from unsold magazines and newspapers, paired with locally sourced pigments and water-based materials. Each piece is handmade from start to finish by a single artisan, using techniques developed in-house through years of experimentation. The result is work that feels sculptural, lightweight, and deeply intentional. With a commitment to transparency, ethical production, and long-term livelihoods, Mbabane Makers collective proves that sustainable design can be socially impactful, environmentally responsible, and genuinely beautiful.
