OAXACAN CERAMIC COLLECTIVE
The Oaxacan Ceramic Collective is a community workshop of young ceramicists dedicated to transforming local clay into refined, high-fire tableware. Founded in 2012 by master ceramicists Eduardo López and María Fernanda Oviedo, the studio was created to offer training, stability, and meaningful work for youth from the outskirts of Oaxaca City. Working with low-porosity stoneware fired at extreme temperatures, each piece is shaped for durability, plating, and everyday ritual. Their custom glazes are developed in-house through years of experimentation with regional soils, clays, and mineral blends, resulting in surfaces rich with depth and subtle variation.
Beyond craft, the collective operates with a strong social foundation, offering medical insurance, paid vacations, annual contracts, and a safe working environment that supports both skill and dignity.
