The Gotha Bookcase is an ode to sacred monoliths; the severity in the designs references ecclesiastical structures and the austere furnishings found within. Functional and starkly beautiful, this bookcase will make a statement in any room.

Story

DECERES was founded by Denise Martinez and Jorge Arturo Ibarra in 2020. The duo’s designs are physical manifestations of their own introspections and often reference elements from their upbringing on the Mexico / California border. Monolithic forms, severe lines, and narrow voids are a nod to their collective experiences.

Through collaboration with artisans in Mexico and California, DECERES pieces are carefully handcrafted, highlighting the uniqueness of each piece.

Product Care
Gently remove dust and debris with a clean microfiber cloth. If necessary, lightly dampen the cloth with water, but do not saturate. Use a dry cloth to remove any excess water. Do not use chemicals or cleaning tools on any surface.

Deceres is heavily inspired by the Mexican heritage of the brand’s designers, and working with artisans and materials that are cohesive with that story is of utmost importance to the creative duo. This ranges from stone native to Mexico, to hand textured metals and wood.

Deceres’ pieces are minimalist in design, but heavy in meaning––experimentation with materials and finishes that complement each style is paramount to the design ethos. These pieces are limited editions because they are truly artisan made.

The material selection is dependent on each piece or each collection’s story, and the elemental nature of the various components reflects a haunting, imposing quality that sets Deceres apart from their contemporaries in the Mexican design space.
