Story

These candles are made completely by hand from 100% beeswax from Chiapas. And the rich smell of honey and burning wood fire wafts through the small Mexican town where Viviana has her workshop. 

A true artisan, she insists that every layer of these candles is hand-poured for longer burning times. Trained in candle-making since she was old enough to handle wax, she nonetheless ran from her family legacy and married a weaver at 14 years old.

Years later, absentmindedly plucking the leaves from a rose, she was drawn back to her heritage and ancestral traditions.

Her smooth taper candles are available in black, gray, green, white and the natural tapers are a rich honey colour. Her stunning specialty candles are available in five styles and an assortment of colours.

Doña Viviana Alávez, now in her eighth decade, continues to handcraft candles from 100% pure beeswax sourced in Chiapas—a skill passed down through generations of women in her family. Since childhood, she has poured her heart into this tradition, creating each candle layer by layer with patience and devotion. Her work has long supported not only her family but her entire village.

As she prepares to pass her techniques to her two sons, Viviana’s workshop has become a place of living heritage—where knowledge, artistry, and love intertwine. Her creativity transformed a centuries-old craft when she began sculpting her now-signature rose and flower-shaped candles, inspired by the beauty of a single bloom.

Today, her creations illuminate life’s most meaningful moments—proposals, weddings, and celebrations across Mexico—preserving the light of tradition through every flame.
