Manuel Morales Gámez
Born into five generations of potters in Tzintzuntzan, Michoacán, Manuel Morales Gámez began working with clay at the age of eight under the guidance of his father, Miguel Morales. Growing up in the family workshop, he developed an early understanding of traditional techniques and a lasting appreciation for the craft.
He later studied painting and graphic design in Morelia, drawing inspiration from Mexican artists such as Diego Rivera and the ancient symbols of the Purépecha civilization.
Working with locally sourced clay, Manuel shapes his pieces on a non-electric potter's wheel before hand-painting and firing them. His intricate compositions reflect the history, landscape, and cultural heritage of the Pátzcuaro region. Over decades of practice, his ceramics have earned recognition through exhibitions and collections in Mexico and internationally.
