Nippon Kodo has been creating organic incense with exquisite scents for over 400 years, using recipes developed for the Emperor of Japan in the late 16th century. They were the principal provider of rare and exquisite aromas to the emperor and his court – and many of the enduring high-quality incense fragrances they produce today are based on the original formulas.

Kayuragi
Nippon Kodo has been creating organic incense with exquisite scents for over 400 years, using recipes developed for the Emperor of Japan in the late 16th century. Their appreciation of the traditions and process involved in making incense by hand is ancestral and steeped in culture. And they believe that valuable aromatic materials come from the goodness of the earth, using only 100% natural ingredients.
When the Chinese brought the first incense to Japan in the 7th century, along with Buddhism, it was used for medicinal or ceremonial purposes. Today, incense is a staple in the modern home as a de-stressor and a tool to help us unwind.
