Our Artisan Partners From Kibera
Our artisan partners are situated in the heart of Nairobi, in the neighbourhood of Kibera. Despite crushing poverty, the area has a thriving community of artists, dancers, craftsmen, and thousands of other talented residents. It is here in Kibera that you'll find Jack and his group of artisans.
Under Jack's creative direction, they create beautiful pieces from scraps found outside the studio where they work - discarded brass, dipped in 14K gold or silver. Jack is the visionary of this talented collective and they're looking to improve their quality of life by taking this discarded material and turn it into sophisticated, sustainable jewelry. By reinvesting profits from the sale of Jack's pieces Obakki has been able to provide the group with a new workshop to help them expand their business.
