Moses Byentaro
Moses Byentaro's journey into ceramics began in rural Uganda, watching his grandmother shape clay in her backyard. Those early experiences eventually led him to study Ceramics Industrial Engineering and establish his own workshop in Mukono in 2016.
Inspired by nature, Moses creates sculptural ceramics distinguished by restrained forms and monochromatic finishes. Each piece begins with carefully selected clay and passes through several skilled hands, from throwing and shaping to burnishing, decorating, and firing.
Before pursuing ceramics professionally, Moses worked as a social worker, an experience that continues to inform his approach to building a business. Today, his workshop supports a network of approximately 100 women artisans, creating opportunities to learn and practice the craft. His work brings together generations of pottery knowledge, contemporary design, and a commitment to the community around him.
