Story

Crafted just outside Marrakesh, each piece in this collection is the work of three artisans, Zakaria, Abdel, and Mohammed, who carry forward the ancient Moroccan art of Tadelakt. Formed from lime-based clay and natural pigments, every vessel is hand-polished with a river stone to achieve its signature smooth, velvety finish. Subtle tonal shifts and soft silhouettes honour the quiet elegance of Tadelakt—an age-old technique thoughtfully reimagined for modern living.

Product Care

To care for your piece, gently wipe with a damp cloth and mild, pH-neutral soap as needed. Avoid harsh cleaners, acidic products, abrasive sponges, and chemical detergents, as they can damage the surface. For regular upkeep, cleaning with a soft cloth or sponge and a small amount of gentle soap (such as olive- or Marseille-based) helps maintain the finish and protect the surface.

Over time, you can refresh the surface’s subtle sheen by applying a thin layer of natural wax or olive soap and buffing lightly. This gentle conditioning supports the material’s character without compromising its texture.

Marrakesh, Morocco

The Tadelakt Potters of Marrakesh

In Marrakesh, three artisans—Zakaria, Abdel, and Mohammed—carry forward the ancient Moroccan art of Tadelakt. More than a technique, it’s a philosophy of patience and connection, where clay, lime, and water are transformed through rhythm, touch, and time. Each artisan plays a vital role: Abdel and Mohammed shape the terracotta forms, while Zakaria layers them with natural lime plaster, polishing each surface by hand with a river stone and finishing it with soft soap for a smooth, living sheen.

Their craft reflects Marrakesh itself—earthy, luminous, and deeply rooted in tradition. Passed down through generations, Tadelakt was once used to adorn palaces; today, their work preserves its spirit, giving new life to an art form that bridges Morocco’s past and present through the language of texture, collaboration, and devotion.
