The women of the Kitui Basket Weavers craft their pieces using sisal gathered from the land around their community. Each strand is harvested, stripped, hand-rolled and dyed before being woven into durable baskets that reflect generations of knowledge. This work preserves a long-standing weaving tradition while providing a steady source of income for the women who rely on their craft to support their families.

Many members of the cooperative are single mothers or widows who use their weaving skills to pay school fees, manage household expenses and build financial independence.
