Santa María Atzompa, Mexico
VIANNEY & JUAN
In Santa María Atzompa, Vianney creates alongside her father, Juan, and her mother in a family workshop shaped by generations of ceramic knowledge. Juan learned to work with clay from his own mother, carrying forward a tradition once predominantly held by the women of the community.
Today, the family is giving that inheritance new expression. Each piece is formed by hand, bringing regional techniques, wood firing, natural smoking, and contemporary influences into quiet, modern forms while remaining deeply connected to the earth from which they begin.
Their ambitions reach beyond their own workshop. Vianney and her family hope to eventually create a cooperative where local women can develop their skills, earn a meaningful income, and support their families, ensuring that a living tradition continues to create opportunity as it moves into the future.
