Nepalese Incense Makers

In the Himalayas, burning incense is an important part of daily culture. In this region of the world incense fills the air, emitting ancient fragrances––during early morning sunrise rituals, through until the evening after sunset with rich plumes pouring out of temples, monasteries, and homes. Our artisan partners, the Nepalese Incense Makers are based in the foothills of the Nagarjung Forest in the Kathmandu Valley, and have been creating this handmade incense for over 20 years. Most of their ingredients are locally sourced, from herbs to the handmade paper used for packaging, and these makers are focused on building a socially and environmentally conscious cottage industry to provide employment for their local community.
