HANDMADE IN JAPAN
These exquisite scalloped edge ceramic plates from Japan are created by a 12th-generation artisan potter.
Story
For over 400 years, the Kasen family has been hand-crafting their pottery with earth from the hills of Seto, Japan. Their Kitagama kiln was established in 1670 and is the only remaining Japanese kiln from that era. The earth the family uses in their pottery is so pure it can be used directly without any purification. The craftsmanship and style of Hiroshoge Kato Kasen, the family's 12th-generation master potter, is on full display in his fabulous scalloped edge dishes.

These hills are a treasure trove for the ingredients in the natural glaze they use. Today, the city is the centre of Japan’s ceramic production, operating more than 60 traditional kilns. With the ancestral knowledge dating back 400 years, Hiroshoge Kato has truly created a plate for the modern lifestyle.
