Story

These small palm baskets are great for all sorts of storage––kitchen, bathroom, or catchall. The hand-braided palm is sewn together to create these super sturdy baskets that are both beautiful and versatile. And best of all, they’re created using sustainably sourced materials and natural dyes.

Made by talented weavers from Chilapa de Álvarez in the state of Guererro, Mexico, artisans in this area have been working with the native palm leaves for centuries. In this region, work with the wild fiber has its roots in utilitarian design, with locals using the palm leaves to create bags, baskets and hats. These talented makers have joined together to create a co-op with a unifying core mission – the preservation of culture and the economic reactivation of the artisan sector in the region.
